Nardol

Nardol were originally designed to help collect dentrittium and load it into canisters for use in the generation of the axionic energy used to power most space ships. They started out as simple space drones directed by artificial intelligence, but somewhere along the line, they became sentient and refused to do the tasks for which they were created, leaving the dentrittium miners to do the work on their own again.   Now classified as a living species, nardol have come to be known as the bane of dentrittium miners. They roam the asteroid belts of Kantostara in groups of ten to twenty and seem to delight in interfering with mining operations. When they come across a mining ship, they will drain its collection tanks of dentrittium as quickly as the miners can fill them up. A group of nardol will even play chicken with mining ships causing the panicked pilots to veer off course.   Nardol can be very cute with their blinking "eyes" and little antenae, but beware. They do not make good pets. If you ever come across a group of nardol playing hide and seek with one another among the asteroids, whatever you do, don't bring them into your ship. Once inside, they will completely drain your engines of dentrittium in a flash, storing it within their bodies and refusing to give it back. Luckily for unsuspecting travelers, nardol seem to be more mischievious than menacing. They only target the engines, leaving other systems, like life support, fully functional while you drift in space waiting to be rescued.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Nardol come in many shapes and sizes, but they generally consist of a spherical body with retractable arms and legs. They have blinking lights that ressemble eyes, giving the impression of a face, and some also have lighted antenae, presumably for picking up transmissions. Their fondness for rolling in dentrittium gives their metal bodies a sort of rainbow irredescent sheen.

Genetics and Reproduction

Nardol assemble their "young" from scavenged parts.

Ecology and Habitats

They can be found living in and around asteroid belts throughout Kantostara.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Nardol consume dentrittium, but no worries. They generally don't eat too much.

A very cool AI life formed that ties to play pranks on the creators and messes them. It's a really good article and made me laugh when they are playing chicken with the miners
