Where Did the Music Go?

Bokey bo and away we go
All dancing to and fro
But where oh where did the music go
When the sky fell down so low   The singers once said
That we would cry
When the lovers kissed
And sparks did fly
But why oh why
Did the music die   Bokey bo and away we go
All dancing to and fro
But where oh where did the music go
I guess we'll never know

Historical Basis

"Where Did the Music Go?" is a children's rhyme commonly known throughout Kantostara. It is believed to have originated sometime during the Great Migration, giving rise to the theory that it is actually about the destruction of the Bane'ile home world when its binary stars collided in a super nova.   According to this theory, the middle section refers to a prophecy given by the Singers of Songs warning of the destruction long before it ever happened. Then the lovers who kissed would be Bane'ile's binary stars that came together in a cataclysmic explosion. The references to music make sense too, since music and dancing has always been an important part of Bane'ile culture. They never had a written form of their language, so all of their history and knowledge was passed from generation to generation in the form of songs.   If this interpretation is correct, then "bokey bo" would, of course, be a corruption of the name of the Great Plain of Bo Kaabo where all the Bane'ile tribes gathered for one last Festival of Titi'abule before leaving their home to escape the impending destruction. The ancient songs rang out across the Plain and the ground shook with dancing feet once more, but this would be the last time that the Bane'ile ever came together as one before saying their tearful goodbyes and scattering out into space.   Of course, it could also be that none of this is true, and it's simply a nonsensical little rhyme with no real meaning at all.
