The Tlincalli Tribe

The Tlincalli of Kaomora began life as formidable slavers, they were historically the first to enslave others and sell them within The Red Mesa.
Their methods became more refined in the early infancy of Kaomora and they became the first true humanoid threat to grace the sands around the Red Mesa. They did however grow more daring each and every hunt, no longer satisfied with wayward travellers - they descended to the under dark and formed bonds with the northern Drow, they themselves regarded highly for their prized slaves, the Deep Gnomes.
They learnt of the Deep Gnomes but again were not impressed with these creatures, they pressed on to find in the far reaches of the under dark small clusters of tieflings, their demonic presence enchanted the Tlincalli and they began to exclusively hunt down these rare and exotic pray. Their prices at slave auctions were incredible and this only fuelled the Tlincalli further, this was until they came across a rather peculiar tribe of Tieflings. Their deep blue skin significantly different from the more commonly found reds, purples and orange tieflings. Their demenour was more tranquil and their resistance to the Tlincalli was little.
On the return trip to the Slave Pens of The Red Mesa, the Tlincalli were haunted by nightmares of horrific devils and fiery pits, the crashing of waves of magma and the heft of shackles and chains dragging against their limbs.
Each night that passed the same dream, on the eighth consecutive night the Tlincalli all arrived to the same space in their dream. They knelt before a gargantuan beast one arm a mass of whipping tendrils, the other a bearish claw and two heads with eyes that swirled like small pools of sickly yellow flame. Each of them watched as their brethren where consumed one by one. The shrill cries and the horrific crunch of bone and carapace as the large demonic maw gnashed it’s large, blackened teeth.
With a jolt of panic, The Tlincalli awoke to see a calm dreamy stare awaiting them from their Tiefling captives, their fears subsided instantly, and a voice filled their heads. "You now know the fate we escape, by coming to Kaomora. We may not wish to become slaves, but of our observations this was the safest and most direct path away from the jaws of a Demogorgon. We will continue along this path but understand you are no better than the demon captors we are running from".
It was with this true epiphany that the slaving Tlincalli repented for their ways, they freed the Tiefling's and promised to defend the sands from any whom wish to take the freedoms of others.
The Tlincalli’s numbers dwindled down over the years to be but a small portion of the once formidable force of the sands. But if you are lucky or brave enough you can still find them skittering through the shifting sands.

"This is their way"
