Kaon '[Kown] (moo), from Kaahm- meaning wild, untamed, and -on denoting 'land of'

Welcome to the continent of Kaon.

Kaon in and of itself is part of a larger worldbuilding project I'll begin down the road, but for now it's a first plunge into my worldbuilding process. The continent of Kaon lies its foundations in the TTRPG rules of Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder. I do not plan on sticking to this foundation forever though, and in the future I hope to create my own system of magic and lore completely unrelated and detached from both TTRPG systems. For now, though, Kaon functions as a compilation of my Pathfinder/D&D worlds across the years and a springboard to start my TTRPG campaigns in outside of writing.

The ideas for the continent of Kaon were born out of numerous, shoddy worldbuilding projects I started in the past when creating homebrew TTRPG campaigns that I'd DM for different groups of people. The basis for Kaon started with my interest in Slavic history and mythology. As I got started though, I realized that I could incorporate several other interests and compilate them together into a semi-cohesive setting. Some of these other interests are cosmic horror, Persian and Armenian culture and mythology, Sami culture and mythology, and Carpathian and Baltic history and mythology.

Overall I'm a massive history nerd and wanted to take on the task of teaching myself about cultures and places that are either important to me, or places and cultures that I feel like I never got a chance to learn about.
