Volus Tenebris Subvecta
Born deep in the Underdark within a noble family of nalfien, the highly religious and matriarchal family was surprised by the birth of a male son. Clergy within the family had divined that the baby would be a powerful Child of Shivannah and continue the strong tradition of faith. Given the name of Volu Tenebris Subvecta, meaning 'burdened by carrying the shadow', he grew up with his great-grandmother's name and was taught all the religious rites of a future matriarch.
He knew during childhood that he was in a precarious position. His family didn't speak of the fact he was male; compared to his sisters who were regularly required to discuss their fertility cycles, romantic suitors, and social or political entanglements. It wasn't until puberty when he truly realized he was experiencing something no other man in his family, possibly even the Nalfien culture had ever witnessed: He was being treated as a priviledged part of the matriarchy.
More and more it was becoming obvious how he physically stood apart from the other acolytes in his church. They were all at least several inches taller than him now and his features were becoming much more masculine.

General Physical Condition
Due to an accident likely arranged by a rival acolyte, Arran suffered severe burns over both hands and forarms up to his elbows. The damage to the skin was severe and the pain he feels constantly distracts him and his manual dexterity is seriously hampered.
