Khegsar

Semi-Reformed Crime Family

As with many things orbiting the Allegran capital city of Stretto, the Khegsar family went by many different family names that loosely held social influence in varying degrees. Although most members of the 'family' were biologically related, there were lots of other familial names tied to the 'Khegsar' name. After Florina Khegsar killed the king in the The Citizens Insurrection of 3744NC, she also took the lead in her family organization, deposing her grandfather without violence and her new determination to ensure no tyrant ruled the city not only led the family to greater heights of luxury but the entirty of human civilization was affected by Stretto joining the Allegran Accords.

Although certainly not altruistic, the Khegsar family has been part of Stretto's heritage for a dozen generations and for better or worse they've thrown their support behind a ruling government for the first time in recorded history. Prior to supporting the city in an official capacity during the transition of governemtn, the Khegsar family was considered a shady affiliation of loosely related people that use legal loopholes and terminology to exploit the monarchy and protect themselves while also usually benefiting other unfortunates in their geopolitical vicinity.
With Florina ultimately defining the Khegsar name by killing an oppressive ruler, there have been highly notable family members among each following generation that carry on the unusual kind of nobility established by their founding matron. Before Florina the family tradition was to stand back and quietly influence those around themselves rather than taking a leading role since they prefered to remain in the shadows. Since her 'coming out' as a folk hero many of the more charismatic family members have been encouraged to paticipate in legitimate governemental roles and they have begun to establish themselves as somewhat more reputable than previous generations.

Culture

The modern Khegsar family culture is still pretty rough. Especially around other close family members they all seem to lose all memory of what little nicieities they may have picked up, if any. Oddly accepting of outsiders, they remain secretive regardless of how much they care for someone and it takes years to build a trust with the family - even when someone joins the family through marriage or a long-standing relationship.
"Altruism is for fools,
but greed & selfishness are for idiots."
