Mesen Fluid

This charged fluid has been discovered in vast quantities stored deep underground by several ancient civilizations. This was one of the major motivations behind the Dannamore choosing to invest in developing the R.E.D., which had significant costs, both political and economic. The thick pearlesent fluid is much more viscous than water, more like oil, and was instrumental in the creation of the experiments that eventually led to the discovery of Vusinium - a refined form of mesen fluid that can more easily be used in arcane spells and rituals than the sticky fluid.

There have been several massive repositories of mesen fluid by Dannamore-employed exploreres over the past few decades. Their access has been limited by the need for secrecy due to the limitations the government has on Adventurers Guilds and similar folk who loot or damage potentially irreplacable relics from past eras. Presently the Dannamore has negotiated with Mansa Desdemona to allow their new R.E.D. to operate openly and even accept open applications from anyone willing - not just those trained at the Dannamore but anyone with the appropriate skills are considered. Certified Invokheir who studied at the Dannamore are definitely prefered by the organization, but they do accept applications without bias and consider everyone who genuinely has the skills and if someone has a significant gap in a specific skill-set, the application office will often make recommendations so the applicant can improve in the areas that held them back and return once they've gained the necessary skills and/or experience.

The vast underground ruins where vats of mesen fluid are found typically have 8-12 huge sealed, metal containers with secure taps that allow the fluid to be dispensed in small quantities. Each repository is unique to the culture that built it but the mesen fluid found is nearly always well preserved and seemingly identical to all other mesen fluid discovered.

History & Usage

Discovery

Adventurers & explorers have been finding mesen fluid in vast underground vats preserved in various ways for thousands of years. Until recently there was no known use for this strange, semen-like fluid and regretably much was destroyed or otherwise wasted before it's true value was understood. Because the fluid is both 'old' and 'active' it is often used by Dannamore scientists as a control sample and an easy parallel with purified water for easy comparison.

The Dannamore is just now in a position to collect enough of the fluid to begin researching how to produce it. The process of reverse-engineering something with complicated arcane and chemical components is involved and time consuming so presently they are prioritizing R.E.D. missions to regions where mesen fluid has been previously discovered.
