As the primary inhabitants of Allegri, humans are everywhere. This wasn't always the situation but once they discovered what could be accomplished when they set aside their differences and worked together it took very little time for them to build huge cities with powerful defenses. Humans on Allegri had already been slowing moving in this direction for centuries but with the fall of Medale, it became an urgent priority.
History is littered with bad choices and poor alliances, many of which have faded into myth and folklore. As far back as humans can remember they've tried to be allies; stalwart and faithful to all - and none have ever regretted it more. Most humans choose to pride themselves on these traits - earnest and optimistic – yet others refuse to repeat their mistakes and trust nobody. There is currently only one prominent human civilization located on Allegi and it spans the entire northern area with three large capital cities vast distances from one another. Smaller settlements outside the human alliance are scattered across the continent but most people who live outside a days’ travel of the three major cities are nomadic or have negotiated protection from the nearest capital city.
With a knack for survival, humans will drop everything they own to make a point or preserve their lives and live in all corners of the world, carving out small habitable settlements or colonies in almost any climate. Very few large cities exist now, but the world is littered with ancient ruins from kingdoms long forgotten.
Whereas humans are everywhere, the fey have been around longer than any of the other intelligent life can recall and have chosen to seculde themselves in specific regions rather than spread out across the surface of Kaos. Beings tied to nature and the cycle of nature they are so ancient that they lack creation myths and have worshipped the same gods as far back as any scholar can discover. Mainly located in the southern continent, Kriio, the elves and gnomes of Kaos mostly keep to their forest homes and generally avoid any long term non-fey relationships. Having longer lifespans than most other races has caused the elves to prefer their own company; civilizations come and go under their purview and valuable alliances can be easily lost when a short-lived leader dies or is replaced by another with a varying disposition.
Elven numbers aren't high across Allegri but the Fortum elves are the most numerous among humans. With a culture that places a great deal of importance on maintaining a balance with the natural world, they act as a sort of counter-balance to most humans who will completely level a forest or other natural habitate to create their own space, rather than coexisting with whatever may have existed there before.
Gnomes and elves are the most common desendents of the fey to be seen near human settlements, however there are dozens of different type of fey that can be found nearly anywhere if you know where to look. Many will search out a place of primal beauty, such as a waterfall, forest grove, or windswept mountain plateau, and simply spend their eons of life enjoying the company of the regional animals and soaking-in whatever drew them to the area to begin with. Gnomes, especially, tend to form close bonds with animals and burrowing mammals in particular. They tend to prefer underground homes among rolling hills with nearby forests or even jungles and swamps where the seasons are as varied as the types of creature that live in close proximity, and especially old gnomes have been known to take on physical traits similar to those animals dearest to them.
