When choosing languages as part of character creation for characters to be played in the Kelbonnar setting, a player’s chosen race does not give them access to any languages. Instead all players can automatically speak
Turelite (common), and they pick an additional language, native to the Imperial Province, or more remote area that their character comes from, listed as follows:
Turelion Province -
Turelite
Ferio Province -
Uktangian
Ultaru Province -
Takpoian
Quess Province -
Quessite
Bar-Sunar Province -
Dakhwa
Oam Province -
Dosogbuian
Minid Province -
Bwĩgit
Langstrom Province -
Jotunite
Pelenar Province -
Palawcho, or
Jotunite, or
Yaltharhan
Greltor Province -
Yaltharhan
Norgantho Province -
Turelite
Nova Norgantho -
Turelite
The Imperial Colonies - Any common language.
One of the Insular Settlements such as
Sparos or
Mount Timos - the racial language of the populace.
A character that comes from
Turelion Province or
Norgantho Province does not learn an additional language, as
Turelite is the native language of those areas.
The background that players choose do give their characters access to additional languages:
- Characters of any background can pick an additional language(s) from the common language list as allowed by the restrictions of their background.
- Characters from the Acolyte, Crafts Person (Dwarven only), Cloistered Scholar, Courtier, Haunted One, Hermit, Insular Born, Meltaro Socialite, Noble, Outlander and Sage backgrounds can pick an additional language(s) from Uncommon/Academic list as allowed by the restrictions of their background. With DM’s discretion a character of a different background can choose one of these languages.
- Characters can only take languages from the Rare list at their DM’s discretion.
