Personal history

Founding of Karazhan

Strahd founded Karazhan after leaving the floating city of Lindus, he designed the tower himself, ensuring it would be the envy of all wizard towers on Kelkanor. Medivh searched for the perfect location for his tower a place where he could harness enough magical energies to fuel his plethora of research projects and spell tinkering. His fame proceeding him, Medivh toured the Kingdom of Stormwind always being an invited guest in the houses of nobles who wished to curry favour with the Magus. Gilneas offered Medivh an entire estate if he would consider making it the site of his new residence. After dozens of offers, Medivh finally found the place he would build his new tower, a quaint little village of the same name in the forest of Barovich. Medivh offered them his services and fair payment if they would help build his tower, which they excitedly accepted all of the villagers proud to have a famous and powerful wizard on their doorstep.   Medivh chose the location wisely, not only was it isolated enough to give Medivh privacy from the onslaught of nobles wishing for his presence at galas and birthdays but it also was placed on the sight of a nexus of powerful ley lines. These Ley Lines are like channels of magic constantly shifting all over the world but the nexus is like a tightly wrapped ball of them making them an extremely powerful location for an Arch Magi, like Medivh. The Tower its self is made from a small quarry founded at the base of the mountain the locals referred to simply as the "The Tooth". Medivh cast strange magics into the quarried stone creating a substance that acted as a sort of lightning-rod for ley lines. This material would allow his tower to channel raw magic through its walls. With the Tower completed Medivh hired a large amount of staff to cook, clean and generally upkeep the towers day to day, most notable of his staff was his personal Butler; Moroes. A stoic and loyal friend perhaps Medivh only true friend.

Battle with Strahd

In the month of Darnimir in the year 247 p.d. Medivh received a visitor a man dressed in a heavy black riding cloak under the light of the full moon; Strahd. At first, Strahd spoke with the Magus about the outer realms and other planes of existence. Medivh was at first intrigued by their conversation sparking his own interest in the subject, so interested that he allowed Strahds natural charms to blind him to the man's true goal. Right in the middle of the ballroom, Strahd unleashed a hail of attacks against Medivh aiming to rip and tear the magus before he could retaliate with his powerful magic. Medivh shocked quickly regained his composure and attempted to magically pin Strahd to no avail. Strahd had a powerful force backing him an ancient terrible force that helped him resist the archmage. Their battle lasted hours culminating on the roof of where Medivh was about to deliver his final blow to the vampire however, Strahds patron tore through the veil and the ensuing chaos blasted the tower into hundreds of fragments which were scattered across time and space. Since this day Medivh has been trapped ina limbo world between the material plane and astral sea.
