A Glass or Crystal Sphere, Enchanted with a Light Spell
An Orb of light is an uncommon item most often created by magic users. These orbs are the size of an average human hand and made usually from glass, though some are constructed from other materials, such as crystal and many vary in colour, from yellow, orange, even pink, to many hues of green and blue. Held in the hand, attached to a staff or floating in the air by using the levitation spell are the common ways of using the orb.
During creation, which takes many days, the light spell, from the school of Evocation becomes infused within the orb and upon command the orb will flare into life casting bright light within a thirty-foot (30ft) radius, centered on the orb, and dim light for another twenty-feet (20ft) beyond, for a combined total of fifty-feet (50ft), which is the maximum range. The amount of light summoned can be controlled by speaking the command words in arcana.
Attunement is required and the user must be either an Artificer, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Sorcerer, Warlock, or a Wizard to use. Once activated, the light will last for six hours and can be used up to three times within twenty-four hours.
