Corruption Hunters
Corruption Hunters, often shortened to Hunters or Hommes (derived from their organization's name, HoMC), are the main workers of the Hunters of Magical Corruption. They act as something between military, police, and bounty hunter, pursuing leads and rumors to find the magically corrupt: Vita-Touched.
Perception
Purpose
Corruption Hunters are taked with hunting down the magically corrupt, those not only touched by magic, but stained permanently by it. Initially this mostly referred to the Magai, but within a few years it broadened to refer to all Vita-Touched.
Of course, some people being magical is simply a part of nature, not any form of corruption. Their task is like fighting the tides: ultimately purpose-less, but capable of causing much grief regardless.
Social Status
While Hunters often consider themselves as particularly heroic, or don't care for social status when they have power and violence, most people look upon them with disgust, for a variety of reasons. Many dislike them for being government-funded killers, a waste of money better spent on less bloody pursuits. Some, who believe the stories of Witch-Touched, also believe that the Hunters must thus become stained themselves, hunting down the corrupt. Finally, there are those who don't believe that Vita-Touched are corrupted by magic, and that they don't deserve to be hunted down. That last group, especially, tends to be disgusted by the Hunters, for accepting money to hunt down their fellow people like they're animals, simply for existing.
