The Uprising

Known as the most formative war in the history of the galaxy, the Uprising freed countless intelligent species from the oppression of the Progenitors, even if most of them were unaware of said Progenitors. Additionally, it is also typically considered the first time several intelligent species worked together on an interplanetary scale, even though it's likely that such a thing has happened before in the long history of the galaxy.
The Uprising was a difficult sort of undertaking, which required careful consideration and plenty of thought. Not only were the Progenitors a mysterious enemy with unknown means and abilities, but the many species which worked together to fight also had to manage to successfully cooperate to do so. The sheer leadership required to balance all these species, completely unfamiliar with each other, into forming a smoothly-running army, was immense. Diplomacy, compromise, and determination were key to their success.

The Conflict

Prelude

Several species of humanoid alien had achieved space travel and had come together. They were all mutually suspicious of their origin, their extreme similarities. When humans arrived, and their Terran genetics could be traced back through every humanoid species, they reached their breaking point. The knowledge that, for all these species, their entire kinds, and likely their planets, had been planned, orchestrated, controlled by a species that thought itself better than everyone else… it could not be borne. Numerous species capable of traveling on galactic scale and willing to fight bound together, and so the Uprising begun.

Outcome

The allied humanoid species won, successfully ensuring their safety from the Progenitors by driving the entire species extinct, as none of them were willing to communicate to settle things more peacefully.

Aftermath

In the wake of the conflict, many of the humanoid species who had worked together, be it as combatants or otherwise involved, wanted to ensure no one else would take over the same niche. That no species would ever rule over everyone else in the galaxy. As such, they made the United Galactic Federation, intent on ensuring everyone remained equals.
Additionally, a result only discovered later was the resurgence of Vita in the galaxy. With the Progenitors gone, their Vita-consuming machines shut down, suddenly Vita returned to the galaxy, and with it, magic.

Historical Significance

Legacy

The Uprising remains as a massive milestone in the history of the galaxy as a whole, marking the extinction of the Progenitors who shaped so much of the galaxy, and with it, the return of magic to the people of the galaxy. It was a central part of the UGF during the Second Age, but much knowledge of it was lost during the Third Age, when the Coalition begun burying the past in the hope of repressing rebellion, hiding that the galaxy's unification was always its strength.

Technological Advancement

Technology during the Uprising was rather haphazard, as several species with completely separate technological development worked together against a common enemy. All had reached the space-faring stage, but in different ways, and what level of technology they had achieved in other fields varied wildly. Over the 12 years of conflict, much additional development was made, as these species put their knowledge together to achieve freedom.
