V.I.T.A.
The V.I.T.A. or Vita Investigation and Treatment Agency was a research group that existed during the late Second and Third Age. Working for the Coalition, their goal was to find the biological roots of Vita and Vita-Touched, with the intention of making it possible to stop people from being Vita-Touched.
Infamous for their methods, the V.I.T.A. consisted of a gathering of unscrupulous figures, who considered their research goals more important than the people they were working with. Or, perhaps more accurate, working on.
Structure
V.I.T.A. was broken into several sections, with the linking between parts of its organization shaky and chaotic. Many of the researchers that called themselves part of the organization had large egos and took poorly to being ordered around, and were instead let loose to figure themselves out. Their managers, in turn, mostly just organized the work and communicated upwards about their needs and achievements. The non-research parts required to run V.I.T.A., their admins and financial workers and many others, stood mostly alone and had little connection to the researchers they technically worked with.
Culture
Made up of sketchy scientists and researchers who valued their research and goals over things such as ethics and morals, V.I.T.A.'s culture was widely despised. They were cruel people, inhumane in their treatment of others, and often prideful and haughty. Many of V.I.T.A.'s researchers looked down upon anyone they considered below themselves--which often meant everyone but themselves.
Public Agenda
V.I.T.A. was little known during its existence, kept hidden and secret by the Coalition. What little was known about it was meant as propaganda, painting the organization an overly positive light. They were supposed to help treat Vita-Touched, to ensure these powerful people wouldn't be a threat to themselves or their environment... even though training under the Grand Order of the Magai would've achieved the same.
Disbandment
V.I.T.A. went down together with its parent organization, the Coalition, when the galactic view on Vita-Touched changed for the better. But the organization had already been faltering before then, its scientists seeing the change coming and knowing better than to stick around to take the fall.
