World's Edge

At a Glance

World's Edge is a barren wasteland with little capability of holding onto life. No matter where one looks, there is only a huge stretch of dry land and broken soil. It would seem as though there's nothing here until you meander towards the heart of it where a lone castle towers above everything else. The castle is surrounded by a mountainous region, jagged rocks and steep cliffs protecting its borders, as if making it difficult for anyone to go there.   With a Cornerstone located directly outside of the castle, access is easy — though the owner of the castle, a young man named Kian, isn't always accepting guests.

The Wastelands

There might not be any signs of life, but that doesn't mean the place is devoid of dangers. The terrain is quite unforgiving to anyone who isn't an experienced traveller. High and steep cliffs are what surround the castle entirely, placing it in such a precious spot that it's a marvellous wonder that it hasn't slipped right off the edge. One should take care when traversing down the mountains: any safe paths are few and far in between. However, it's on these high, steep cliffs that a valuable blue flower grows. This flower is able to temporary relieve the effects of the Blight.   If you make it to the bottom of the mountains, you'll encounter a sparsely-filled forest that is made up of a mix of blackened trees and withered flora, as if all life has been siphoned out from them. A dense fog might make visibility a bit tricky, but otherwise, there appears to be nothing else alive but you around here. That's a good thing, right? At least there's nothing here that will be trying to kill you.

The Castle

A majestic and beautiful lone building in the wastelands, the castle is where Kian lives with his various construct servants. When open, the castle is able to be freely explored, save for the locked door on the fourth floor. Points of interest within the castle include:
  • The Gardens: The garden of the castle is a vibrant and lush paradise filled with an array of delightful flora. Flowers of every color dance in the sunlight, providing a brilliant contrast that is both enchanting and mesmerizing. In the evening, the gardens are suffused with an effervescent glow that is both enchanting and calming, creating a truly magical atmosphere. At the center of it all stands a magnificent gazebo, a stunning focal point of this beautiful garden.
  •
  • The Grand Hall: The Grand Hall leading to the ballroom is the perfect precursor to the festivities of the masquerade — the perfect testament to the grandeur of the castle. Ornate and beautiful chandeliers hang from the high ceilings. Opulent curtains are draped over tall windows. The decor twinkles under the moonlight, as if mimicking the look and feel of stars in the night sky.
  •
  • Guest Rooms: Located on both the second and third floor of the castle are numerous guest rooms prepared for anyone who might need to touch up on their make-up or take a quick nap before the main event. You'll find yourself drawn to specific rooms as if they were specifically meant for you.
  •
  • The Kitchens: If one continues down the Grand Hall and takes a right, it will lead directly to the castle's kitchens. The kitchens are buzzing with frenetic energy in preparation for an extravagant feast that will cater to everyone's tastes.
  •
  • The Library: The library is a haven for book lovers and researchers alike — a place where knowledge and understanding can be sought after and found. It boasts an impressive collection of books, ranging from magical scrolls to the history of the world as it used to be, and other miscellaneous topics. Its walls are lined with shelves that hold ancient tomes, some of which are centuries old and whisper secrets to those who approach. There are several nooks tucked away inside the library, perfect for a quiet and private reading session. If one tries to steal a book, they'll find that it'll float back into its proper place on the shelves.
  •
  • Locked Room: A single room can be found on the fourth floor of the castle. There's nothing especially different about it; the door looks just as beautiful as the rest of them. However, any attempts at opening the door will be met with incredible resistance — both physically and magically. Whatever is in there, it's closely guarded, but if you listen closely, you might hear... the sound of a low growl?
