Council of the Mountain Lords

The main organization of the Tengu. The Tengu are yokai that guard and foster certain areas of wilderness. Tengu can range from relatively weak crow-like creatures called Kotengu, to human-like ones with wings that wield tremendous power.
The Tengu split up Japan into 8 regions, each with a mountain lord stewarding them. Above these 8 is the Daitengu, which serves as a sort of head, or Tengu lord of lords. The Daitengu is elected by the 8 lords of the mountains, and reigns until they die or relinquish power. The Daitengu will usually allow the other Tengu to do as they please, and it is not uncommon for a Daitengu to never to even call a single meeting with the mountain lords. Typically the Daitengu only acts in times of crisis for all or most of the Tengu domains.
Currently the Tengu are in great conflict over the increase in industrialization and population increase of the humans, which has massively increased the space taken up by urbanization and resource extraction.
