Enenra
Enenra
The Enenra are enigmatic beings born from smoke and shadow, often emerging from the aftermath of great fires. Legends say that when a pure soul perishes in flames, their essence transforms into an Enenra—a creature with a body of smoke that drifts between the material world and the intangible. Enenra are natural tricksters, able to shift effortlessly between physical and vaporous forms, slipping through cracks, evading enemies, and cloaking their movements in clouds of mist and ash. To the untrained eye, they may seem like malevolent spirits, but their true nature is as fleeting and formless as the smoke that shapes them.
In their humanoid form, Enenra are pale and slender, their ashy skin cold to the touch. Their eyes shimmer like dim embers, and their hair flows and shifts like wisps of smoke in the wind. As they move, their bodies seem to blur slightly, as if always on the verge of dissolving into vapor. When they choose, they can melt into smoke, becoming insubstantial and immune to mundane threats. Their smoky presence gives them an air of detachment from the material world, and they often view life as impermanent—a transient state no different from the shifting forms of mist.
Enenra are drawn to places where fire, shadow, and smoke linger: burned-out ruins, volcanic caverns, and abandoned temples. They live on the edges of society, often wandering without roots or purpose, driven by whims and fleeting desires. Some Enenra seek knowledge of the flames that birthed them, while others simply move through the world, embracing the freedom that comes with their elusive nature. Wherever they go, they leave behind faint traces of smoke—echoes of their presence that linger like the memory of a forgotten fire.
