Idol

Idol

Idols aren’t just entertainers—they are cultural icons, sources of inspiration, and masters of emotional manipulation. As a member of the College of the Idol, you channel your talents to uplift your allies, charm your audience, and dazzle your enemies. But life as an idol isn’t easy. Beneath the glamour lies a world of high expectations, rivalries, and the constant need to maintain your image. Whether your performances inspire genuine hope or mask deeper insecurities, your music and charm captivate all who witness them.

Bonus Proficiencies

At 3rd level you gain proficiency in Performance and Persuasion. If you already have either, you may choose another skill from the bard list.     Additionally, you gain proficiency with one instrument of your choice (such as a microphone, keyboard, or guitar). You can use this instrument as a spellcasting focus.

Star Power

At 3rd level, when you perform, you draw the attention and admiration of everyone around you, creating opportunities to manipulate the battlefield. As a bonus action, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to activate Star Power for 1 minute. While Star Power is active, you gain the following benefits:
  • All Eyes on Me: Enemies within 30 feet must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = your spell save DC) or have disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures other than you until the start of your next turn.
  • Performance Boost: If a creature within 30 feet that you can see uses your Bardic Inspiration die, they can roll the die twice and use either result.
  • Choreographed Movement: While you are not wearing heavy armor, you can move through friendly creatures’ spaces without expending extra movement.
  •     Once you use Star Power, you must complete a short or long rest before using it again.

    Heartfelt Encore

At 6th level, you’ve learned how to push through exhaustion and setbacks to deliver the perfect encore. When you or a friendly creature fails an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw while under the effect of your Bardic Inspiration, you can use your reaction to allow them to reroll the Bardic Inspiration die and add the new roll to their result. They must use the new roll.     In addition, you gain the ability to cast Heroism or Calm Emotions without expending a spell slot once per long rest, reflecting the uplifting or soothing power of your performance.

    Dazzling Finale

At 14th level, your final performances leave enemies stunned and allies inspired. As an action, you can expend a spell slot to unleash a Dazzling Finale, captivating everyone around you with a brilliant display of lights and sound. Each creature of your choice within 30 feet must make a Charisma saving throw (DC = your spell save DC) or be charmed or frightened (your choice) for 1 minute. Charmed creatures view you as an irresistible star, while frightened creatures feel overwhelmed by your presence.     Additionally, all allies within the area gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + your Bard level and advantage on their next attack roll or ability check.     Once you use Dazzling Finale, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

    Idol Bard Invocations

Here are some optional techniques that an Idol Bard might develop to fit the modern pop star theme:
  • Fan Service: You can cast Charm Person at 2nd level without expending a spell slot once per long rest.
  • Stage Presence: When you roll a natural 1 on a Performance or Persuasion check, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll.
  • Backstage Pass: Gain proficiency with Deception or Sleight of Hand, and you have advantage on Charisma checks made to gain access to restricted areas (like clubs or VIP lounges).
