Ki Wave Master

Ki Wave Master's have trained to channel their inner ki into pure, destructive energy, using martial techniques to unleash powerful beams, waves, and blasts. With every strike, they harness their ki into concussive force or searing light, emulating the dramatic energy attacks seen in anime and other forms of high-octane media. Through precise control, these monks transform their ki into radiant energy, devastating foes with explosive attacks.  

Forceful Punch

At 3rd level your fists are imbued with explosive energy, enabling you to send concussive waves through the air with each strike. When you land a critical hit with an unarmed strike, you can choose to release a wave of forceful energy. All creatures within 5 feet of the target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier) or take force damage equal to your Martial Arts die and be pushed back 10 feet. You can also choose to activate this ability as a bonus action when you make an unarmed strike, regardless of whether it’s a critical hit, at the cost of 1 ki point.  

Energy Strike

At 3rd level you learn to channel your ki into a focused beam of radiant energy, allowing you to attack enemies from a distance. As an action, you can spend 1 ki point to unleash a 30-foot line of radiant energy that is 5 feet wide. Creatures in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC.
  • On a failure: Creatures take 2d8 radiant damage and are pushed back 10 feet.
  • On a success: They take half damage and aren’t pushed.
  •   The damage increases to 3d8 at 6th level, 4d8 at 11th level, and 5d8 at 17th level.  

    Radiant Wave

    At 6th level, your mastery over radiant energy allows you to create an explosive shockwave that disrupts the battlefield. As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to release a 15-foot cone of radiant energy. Creatures within the cone must make a Constitution saving throw against your Ki save DC.
  • On a failure: Creatures take 3d10 radiant damage and are knocked prone.
  • On a success: They take half damage and remain standing.
  •   If you expend an additional ki point, the radius increases to 20 feet.  

    Blazing Spirit

    At 11th level, once per long rest your body becomes a beacon of radiant energy when you’re in danger, fueling your attacks with explosive force. When you are reduced to half your hit points or fewer, you can activate Blazing Spirit as a bonus action. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:
  • Your unarmed strikes deal additional radiant damage equal to your Wisdom modifier.
  • You emit bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet.
  • When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can choose to push them back 5 feet.

    Celestial Detonation

    At 17th level, once per long rest you master the ability to release all your stored ki in a single devastating blast of energy, transforming the battlefield in one explosive moment. As an action, you can spend 5 ki points to release a massive explosion of radiant energy in a 30-foot radius centered on you. All creatures within the radius must make a Constitution saving throw against your Ki save DC.
  • On a failure: Creatures take 10d10 radiant damage and are blinded until the end of your next turn.
  • On a success: They take half damage and are not blinded.
  • After using Celestial Detonation, you are left temporarily weakened, reducing your speed by half until the start of your next turn.
