Parent-Offspring Ofuda System
The Parent-Offspring Ofuda System is a means by which an area may be protected not just from impure spirits, but also from any unauthorized people or creatures, often paired with other defensive enhancements such as an anti-magic. It works by utilizing a single "parent" ofuda located somewhere within the perimeter it affects. The power of this parent ofuda and the area it defends is largely dependent on the power and skill of its creator. For this reason parent ofuda made by priestesses and moon rabbits are used for the most important locations like temples, palaces, government, and military establishments. The second half of the system is the "offspring" ofudas, which act as identifiers for each person that owns one. Each offspring ofuda is bonded to its owner via a drop of their blood, and is given authorization by a shrine maiden via a stamp. This stamp is necessary as the final step of the ofuda's activation, and is only applicable to the location for which the stamp represents and no other. Multiple stamps from different locations can be applied to a single offspring ofuda though. An individual without his offspring ofuda on his person will not be permitted to enter, nor any unrelated ofudas, incomplete offspring ofudas, or ofudas with another person's blood. If a person is separated from their offspring ofuda while within the perimeter of a parent ofuda, nothing will happen until they leave the perimeter and then will be unable to reenter until they have an offspring ofuda again. An offspring ofuda may be either physically destroyed, or disenchanted by a shrine maiden to remove the privileges it offers. While a very powerful system for security, the possibility for an undesirable person to have an offspring ofuda and have it authorized, or the destruction of the parent ofuda (a difficult and unlikely feat), meaning the system is not entirely impregnable.
