Shinto Structure
Kami
The kami are pure and divine otherworldly beings that have dominion and jurisdiction over certain aspects of reality or certain locations. Kami are the ultimate source of all authority within Shinto
Emperor
The first emperor Jimmu was descended from the sun goddess Amaterasu, and is therefore the source of his legitimacy. All decisions that come from the emperor are therefore divine as well.
The Four Sages
The four sages are advisors appointed by the kami to provide wise council.
Judge Enma
The judge over dead Japanese souls, who was appointed by the kami for his exceptional judicial capabilities. He decides whether a soul will go to the kami's realm, Jigoku, or the spirit world
Priest
A local level priest will manage a single shrine. Shrines and their constituency may differ in size, but the role is ultimately the same. The priest will answer to the prefectural priest, and will run the shrine, its rituals, upkeep, and the disciples and shrine maidens that work within
Shrine Maiden
Shrine maidens are young women with strong Ki awareness and spiritual connection. They are the primary means by which a shrine is cleaned, maintained, and spiritual rituals with kami are performed. Shrine maidens may act as vessels for kami to speak through. Shrine maidens will perform sacred dances called kagura, and are capable of channeling divine energy of kami in the form of Ki to fend off yokai, and to make ofuda and other divine items
Moon Rabbit High Priestess
The head of the Moon Rabbits and the Order of the Lunar Shrine Maidens. She is one of the most powerful beings in Japan, and produces the most powerful ofuda and elixers. The current high priestess is High Priestess Ying Ming
Moon Rabbit Priestess
High level moon rabbits that have more authority and power than the shrine maidens
Moon Rabbit Shrine Maiden
Most moon rabbits fall into this category. They work under the jurisdiction of the priestess and high priestess to make ofuda and elixers, or use their high level divine ki to help the empire.
