Yosuzume

Yosuzume

“A single haunting song carried through the night—it may be a blessing or a curse, depending on the heart that hears it.”   The Yosuzume are an enigmatic race of anthropomorphic sparrows, known for their haunting songs that drift through the twilight and their subtle command over sound and shadows. Often appearing during the stillness of the night, these elusive beings walk the line between mystery and mischief, using their songs to guide, deceive, or entrance those who listen.   While their light wings allow brief bursts of flight, they excel more at songcraft and tactical mobility, making them excellent performers, scouts, or magical support characters. Their melodies can calm weary minds, charm hostile spirits, or mask the movements of allies, ensuring they remain highly valued both in battle and in times of peace. Some Yosuzume choose the life of traveling minstrels or guardians, while others act as tricksters, lending aid or sowing confusion according to their whims.   Agile, charming, and unpredictable, Yosuzume are drawn to paths where performance, magic, and subtle influence converge, making them ideal for Bards, Rogues, and other charisma-based adventurers.

  • Twilight Requiem - Enemies within 20 feet must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + Charisma modifier + proficiency bonus) or become charmed until the end of the Yosuzume’s next turn. Creatures already in combat have advantage on this saving throw. While charmed, the creature sways as if entranced and cannot take reactions.

  • Guiding Serenade - The Yosuzume sings a soothing lullaby. Allies within 30 feet regain hit points equal to your Charisma modifier the first time they spend Hit Dice during a short rest. Additionally, creatures of your choice within range gain advantage on Insight checks for the next hour.
  • Song of Hidden Paths - While the Yosuzume sings this song, all allies within 20 feet gain the ability to move through difficult terrain without penalty. Creatures affected by this song have advantage on saving throws against magical traps. Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute.
  • Lullaby of the Moon - Enemies within 30 feet must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + Charisma modifier) or fall into a light trance. Creatures in this state have disadvantage on Perception checks and cannot take reactions. If a creature affected by the song is dealt damage, the effect ends for that creature. Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute.
  • Spirit’s Hymn - While singing this song, all allies within 30 feet gain resistance to psychic damage. Once per song, an ally affected by the song can choose to reroll a failed Wisdom saving throw and must use the new result. Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute.
  • Song of the Fleeting Wind - When the Yosuzume sings this melody, all creatures of their choice within 15 feet gain +2 to AC against ranged attacks. The song’s magic grants them advantage on Dexterity saving throws to avoid area-of-effect attacks, such as spells or traps. Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute.
  • Ballad of the Starry Night - The Yosuzume sings of distant stars, providing inspiration to allies. All allies within 30 feet gain temporary hit points equal to 1d8 + the Yosuzume’s Charisma modifier. Additionally, the affected allies have advantage on their next Charisma-based skill check before the song ends. Duration: 10 minutes.
  • Dirge of the Lonely Sparrow - As the Yosuzume sings, allies within 20 feet gain a bonus to attack rolls against enemies that are isolated (i.e., not within 5 feet of any of their allies). If an enemy within range is already isolated when the song begins, they must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for the next round. Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute.
  • Serenade of Tranquility - While this song is active, hostile creatures within 30 feet must succeed on a Charisma saving throw or lose the ability to make attacks of opportunity for the duration. • Crescendo of Thunder - At the end of each round that the Yosuzume sings this song, they can choose one enemy within 30 feet to make a Constitution saving throw or take 1d8 thunder damage. On the third round of continuous singing, the song releases a final burst: all enemies within 30 feet must make a Constitution save or take 1d8 x proficiency thunder damage and be deafened for 1 minute. Duration: Up to 3 rounds (ends after the crescendo).
