Sand Scorpion


Sand Scorpions are large arthropods and one of the most feared inhabitants of the deserts. With a tough exoskeleton the color of the surrounding sand, they are nearly invisible when motionless. Primarily nocturnal, they hide beneath the sand during the day to avoid the heat, emerging at night to hunt. They use their powerful pincers and venomous stinger to subdue prey. Opportunistic predators, feeding on smaller desert creatures and occasionally scavenging carrion.
