Arkaine

In the time before the Draconic age, in the interim between it and The Old World, there lived a man that history knows solely as 'Arkaine'.  If the stories and the texts are to be believed, then he was one of the most powerful and gifted spellcasters to ever walk Kermoria, who's research into the nature of arcane magics paved the way for thousands of scholars of the arcane-academia.

Physical Description

Facial Features

During his life, his face was ritually marked with mystic, long-forgotten runes.  Stories vary wildly, some claiming it was a tattoo, some a birthmark, others claiming some sort of ritualistic scarification.  The meaning of these runes is not clear, as there are no known depictions of them in the scrolls; it is, however, assumed to be some sort of protective magic, similar to a more modern Dwarven runesmith carving sigils into armor.

Personal history

Myths and legends abound about Arkaine, and what is known for certain is difficult to discern from the embellishments of history.  It is known that, prior to the rise of Teraptus and the beginning of the Draconic age, magic was poorly controlled and understood; many acolytes and would-be wizards and sorcerers died horrible deaths whilst attempting to harness, control, and understand the ebb and flow of the winds of magic.  Until Arkaine.

Arkaine is the first being in recorded history to be able to fully harness the magics of fire, one of the most primal, and basic, of the magical forces.  He wielded it easily, as easily as a knight could sling a sword.

This, understandably, began to draw notice, as he wielded the flame and brought many tribes together under his banner.  While he was certainly no tyrant, many chieftains swore allegiance to him in fear he would use his mastery of the primal magics to bring ruin to their cities or their villages.  But Arkaine never brought wrath or destruction to anyone out of malice or spite; he gathered many of their acolytes and began to teach them, to mentor them and to instruct them so that they, too, could one day wield the flame as he did.

As the years passed, Arkaine began to age, as all humans do.  Soon, he travelled less, and, eventually founded a hall where he trained acolytes and apprentices, a place he called 'Equinox Atheneum".  It's location, and it's contents, have never been discovered; it is, likely, a secret he took to his death.

It is known that Arkaine's power swelled as he aged, having mastered the primal forces of water, fire, and earth.  Soon, he began delving into more delicate magics, including the weaving of creation itself.  While there is no evidence to support the claim, it is widely believed that Arkaine himself was the creator of the ever-swelling demiplane Titania, as he created something he did not fully understand or comprehend.

Sexuality

There are no records in the history books of Arkaine ever taking a wife, a mistress, a concubine, or any other such; it is assumed, then, that those matters remained a personal thing, held closely to the vest.  There are, also, no record of any children; his line, as magically-dominant as has ever been seen, died with him.
