Elysian Sand

Known as 'Red Sand', 'Sand' or simply 'Dust', Elysian sand is a highly addictive, illicit substance found throughout the underbellies of almost every Kermorian civilization.  For it's duration, the user is suspended in a state of alchemically-induced bliss; however, the side effects are often deadly.

History

It's unclear when Elysian Sand first became available in Kermoria, or how it came about; however, it began to circulate through the underbelly of River Crossing sometime circa 195.  In 199, as it's use became more and more rampant, and many of the city's syndicates were involved in it's creation, sale, or transport, King Roger II declared it (and several other illicit substances) a public enemy, and began a campaign designed to wipe it out from his city and his province.

As of 221, Elysian Sand is still a public enemy, and continues to flow into the city via unknown networks; it is sold on street corners, in dimly-lit taverns, and delivered discreetly by shady messengers in all areas of the city.
