Frost-Forged Steel

Frost-Forged Steel, FrostSteel, or sometimes simply known as Spectrum, is a rare type of metal that isn't actually steel, that is found only on the Elemental Plane of Ice, better know as The Frostfell.

Little is known about where or how it is found, how it is mined, or how it is wrought into ingots, and travelers to the desolate plane often meet harsh resistance from the native tribes who work the metal; they're willing to sell or trade it, but not the knowledge.

Significance

Spectrum is rarely used for armor, as the cost of the piece is usually prohibitive; however, when used in weapons, it tends to confer a chill to anyone struck by it, sometimes even sapping their life, bit by bit, with the extreme temperatures, as if they had stepped foot into the Frostfell itself.

The extreme conditions of the Frostfell make travel extremely difficult; ensuring the price for Spectrum remains exorbitant.  Very little of it exists within Kermoria, and is usually found in the hoards and treasuries of extremely wealthy individuals.

The tribespeople who work this metal tend to barter, rather than accept coinage they can never spend.
