Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Tall and lithe, with pale, nearly transluscent skin, that oddly appears nearly bloodless.

Body Features

When angered, a pair of feathered wings rip from her back. Where normal Aasimar have gorgeous white wings, Maerys has grey and black feathers, with skeletal patches.

Facial Features

Maerys' eyes are usually a pale blue, and glassed over as she listens to the voices of her past. When provoked, however, the darken nearly instantly to a bottomless pool of darkness.

Apparel & Accessories

Maerys is always wearing glamered studded leather armour, but it is usually transfigured into gothic-esque dresses or robes.

Personal history

Maerys rode with Lyras before and during the war. As one of her esteemed heralds, she rode into towns and villages, wings spread, eyes dark, dresses billowing behind her. She spoke of the Queen of the Dead, and the coming darkness that would spread if they did not bend their will to her. When townsfolk and soldiers would try to rebuke her, she would drive them insane, and listen to their screams with glee. No one knew her name, only speaking in hushed whispers and stories of the Banshee that rode through towns, leaving terror and madness in her wake.
Upon Lyras' defeat, it was almost as if a fog had lifted in Maerys' mind. She slipped away from the remnants of Lyras' army, and found a small plot of land to the east of Shard, and began construction of a small manse. There she lived for many years, but the Banshee name never quite went away, as it became more of a children's story. Discreet payment to an old wizard acquaintence of hers turned her home into "the spooky house in the woods" and prevented people from thinking too much about the woman who had lived there. Because she had been there so long, she had to have passed by now, surely?

Employment

As the Banshee, Maerys rode through Illithi and Zoluren, heralding the impending arrival of the Queen of the Dead.

After the end of the Lyras War, the screams and voices of the thousands of people she tormented continued to torment her brain. She took on small jobs, glamouring herself as to not be noticed for who she was, reading fortunes and holding seances to try to bring some closure to those that needed it most.

Morality & Philosophy

Maerys thought she was on the right side of the war when she went to join Lyras. Lyras was powerful and claimed to be able to share her gifts with her loyal followers. It was only after the death of her general that she realised what she had been doing.
