Sisterhood of the Ivory Thorn
So that no Sister should ever fight alone.
Public Agenda
Very little is known about the Sisterhood of the Ivory Thorn, save for the information their leadership has intentionally leaked. What is known is steeped in both myth and tradition, giving the Sisterhood a unique place in both reality and legend.
It is known that the Sisterhood provides homes for broken, battered, beaten women (and sometimes children) who have no place to turn, giving them a home in exchange for service and worship to their patron Goddess, Periel. These women are often trained as warrior monks, seen for hours amidst the courtyards of Thornhill House training in their unique styles of martial arts.

History
Formed circa 23BD as an order dedicated to helping impoverished women and widows from the Lyras War, the Sisterhood sought a place to stay and shelter their refugees for nearly 2 years before settling into the home know known as Thornhill House , a newly built but unoccupied fortress that had been built by cultist worshippers of the evil and vile Goddess Dergati.
There, they began providing homes and meals to widows, orphaned girls, and any woman who came to their doors for shelter, in exchange for service and worship. Many of these women trained for years, learning discipline and self care skills before setting off on their own, often successful ventures.

Religion
While the sisters are free to worship any of the Thirteen, or any racial or tribal pantheon they so desire, part of their oath of Sisterhood requires them to swear allegiance to Periel of the Thirteen, in everlasting harmony with the world. Though not required to do so, many of the sisters worship her as their patron Goddess, forsaking most others.
Foreign Relations
The Sisterhood is based in Zoluren, but has travelled as far as Ilithi and Therengia to lend aid during times of crisis; acting as messengers, nurses, doctors, runners, and any other role necessary to mitigate or stave off disaster.
When the Fists erupted, the Sisterhood set up an ad-hoc camp outside the tent city of Dirge, acting as a field hospital for the injured and the wounded for several weeks. During the Ogre invasions of 200AV, Thornhill served as a camp for many displaced refugees who had no where else to go.

Education
The sisterhood offers an extensive educational system, which begins very early on in a woman's stay at Thornhill. Her natural aptitudes are tested, and she is given rigorous and demanding instruction in the courses that best befit her personality and abilities; courses include martial arts and disciplines, as well as astronomy, herbalism, midwifery, and are even rumored to contain many of the more illicit professions, such as prostitution and information gathering.
To give each woman a home, a place, a purpose. To give each Sister hope.
