Skywind Observatory

An engineering miracle of Gnomish design, Skywind Observatory rests atop Azir Peak, in Northwestern Zoluren.

Purpose / Function

When originally built, Skywind was designed to observe the Heavens and make more accurate predictions about tides, moon cycles, and other phenomenon.  Over the years, the structure and it's infrastructure have evolved, adding more space, a second telescope, and more laboratories, allowing for in depth experiments and more research to be conducted by some of the brightest minds in all of Kermoria.

Architecture

Skywind's main telescope, known simply as 'Bertha', is a large, single-aperture optical telescope with a highly polished mirror system, measuring nearly 34feet in diameter.  It's secondary telescope, which was designed in 209 and completed in 214, is far smaller, at only four feet, and uses a refractor method for magnification.
