The Living Abyss

An unexplainable deep water shelf along the western coast of Kermoria, the Living Abyss is said to be inhabited by monsters of numerous varieties, including a kraken-like beast and thousands of nagas.  Sailors who have sailed there often tell tales of seeing the naga swimming in the waters near their boats, and many vessels have been shipwrecked, with survivors telling tales of giant beasts rising from the depths to sunder their ships; many of those survivors were held captive, sometimes for months, by the ferocious naga who live within those waters, only to be sold as slaves to the land dwellers in exchange for goods not available otherwise.

The Living Abyss is a wretched place, and all attempts to survey it in depth have ended in disaster, with lives and vessels lost, never to be seen again.
