History

Melderyn's origins are lost in the murk of prehistory, but it is known to be the oldest kingdom on Harn and one of the oldest civilizations in Lythia.
Although it is commonly accepted accepted that the first humans arrived on Harn about 1300 BT, the island of Melderyn was occupied by men at a much earlier date. The time of arrival of these original settlers is unknown although what has come to be called the Henge Culture was thriving on the island by 2700 BT. These peoples built numerous megalithic structures on Melderyn, Elnar, Gelnoth, and Ikom islands in the Indatha Straights. They seem to have made no attempt to settle mainland Harn. Many of these structures survive and some are very impressive. One of the largest, and certainly the most famous, is Gelimo on the west coast of Melderyn Island.
