Unusual Sized PCs
Based off
- the "Special Rules" in the Lost Omens Ancestry Guide pg.66
- "Items and Sizes" in The Core Rulebook pg. 295
- The "Enlarge" and "Shrink" Spells in The Core Rulebook pg. 336 and pg.369
While most ancestries are either medium or small, some players may want to choose to play an unusually sized character, that being a character whose size is either Tiny or Large.
Large
Large PC's have the following rule modifications:
Carry Capacity
You can carry 2x the amount of Medium/Small creatures
Clothing, Armour and Weapons Cost
Clothing, Armour and Weapons cost double their standard price for you due to the increased amount of materials required to make them.
Weapons and Armour Weight
Your Weapons and Armour (or clothing) weigh 2x as much as they would for Medium/Small creatures. If your Armour would normally be L bulk it becomes 1 Bulk, and Negligible Bulk becomes L bulk.
Reach
Your reach is 10ft instead of 5ft. If you are using reach weapons, increase the reach by 5ft.
Attack Modifiers
You gain a +2 to your attack modifier if you are using weapons of the appropriate size (large). Using weapons meant for other sized creatures will gain you the following penalties: - Tiny: You loose the +2 modifier and deal half damage
- Small/Medium: You loose the +2 modifier
- Huge: You cannot use these items without feats or class abilities (such as the Titan Mauler ability for Barbarians)
Tiny
Tiny PC's have the following rule modifications:
Carry Capacity
You can carry half the amount of Medium/Small creatures
Clothing, Armour and Weapons Cost
Clothing, Armour and Weapons cost half their standard price for you due to the decreased amount of materials required to make them.
Weapons and Armour Weight
Your Weapons and Armour (or clothing) weigh half as much as they would for Medium/Small creatures. If your items would normally be L bulk it becomes Negligible, and Negligible Bulk items remain Negligible.
Reach
Your reach is 0ft, meaning to strike another creature you must enter their space. If you are using reach weapons, decrease the reach by 5ft.
Taking Cover
In some instances determined by the GM, Tiny creatures can use another creature of small size or larger to take cover when in said creature's space. If this creature is your ally, you automatically succeed. If it is not (especially if it is hostile towards you) you will need to make an acrobatics check against their reflex save.
Flying PCs
- Based off the "Special Rules" in the Lost Omens Ancestry Guide, pg.66
With the number of player ancestries capable of flight available in Keyrae, flying PC's are much more common than in other settings. As a result, when playing in Keyrae, any Ancestries (e.g. The
Elithi) heritages (e.g. The
Coatl-Blooded Ashessi) or ancestry feats that grant the players wings or a gliding/flying based ability (e.g. The
Kobold Winglet feat) also grant the player a 15ft fly speed. The only condition that needs to be met in order for one such PC to fly, is that there must be enough space for them to open their wings - The space requirements are posted below.
- Tiny: 2.5ft
- Small: 5ft
- Medium: 10ft
- Large: 20ft
Any subsequent abilities that would usually upgrade a character's flying ability (e.g.The
Strix Feats:
Fledgling Flight,
Juvenile Flight and
Fully Flighted) now increase the fly speed of these creatures by the specified amounts (typically 5ft unless otherwise specified). Feats that would be affected by these rule changes, such as those mentioned above, will be adjusted in the ancestry's article.
