Rabbitfolk

The Rabbitfolk hail from Hazem, but have well-established communities all over Keyrae, at least within the Manali Empire. Outside of Hazem, you'll typically see them most often in towns and cities that have had historic bad luck, or rely on luck for survival (such as in places with a lot of natural disasters). This is because rabbitfolk are known for being particularly spiritual, and many take up jobs as preists, clerics or champions when traveling abroad. For whatever reason, the gods seem to listen when they call, leading to the idea that rabbitfolk are lucky. The Rabbitfolk themselves are aware of this and it is a generally accepted aspect among their society, leading to many of them traveling abroad to offer their services.

You Might:

  • Be very religious and devoted to whichever god or pantheon you follow.
  • Use your good fortune to help others, or take advantage of them.
  • Strive to find or found a large family.

Others Probably:

  • Seek you out to accompany trading vessels or other shipments of great value, or simply seek your presence in times of trouble.
  • Accuse you of conning people or faking your "luck" as a way to make money off of the gullible.
  • assume you are religious in some way, shape or form.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They are typically grey, black or brown in colouration, often with spotted patterns, although albinism is fairly common among their population. Rabbitfolk usually stand around 100cm tall however there is a lot of variation within the species, with the tallest Rabbitfolk reaching 140cm

Growth Rate & Stages

Rabbitfolk grow at around the same rate as many humanoids, reaching maturity at 18 years of age and living to 70 years old

Rabbitfolk Heritages

Long-legged Rabbitfolk

You have unusually long and thin features, resembling more of a hare than a rabbit. Your movement speed is 30ft and you gain a +2 circumstance bonus to Athletics Checks to High Jump and Long Jump.

Fluffy Rabbitfolk

  • Based on "Snow Rat" in Lost Omens Ancestry Guide, pg. 54
You have long, shaggy fur and are somewhat pudgier than most rabbitfolk, granting you cold resistance equal to half your level (minimum 1). You treat environmental cold effects as if they were one step less extreme (incredible cold becomes extreme, extreme cold becomes severe, and so on).

Burrow Bunny

  • Based on "Tunnel Rat" in Lost Omens Ancestry Guide, pg. 54
Your family have always favoured their burrows and tunnels over the world above. You gain the Quick Squeeze feat as a bonus feat, even if you aren’t trained in Acrobatics. Tight spaces not tight enough to require the Squeeze action aren’t difficult terrain for you.

Jackalope Rabbitfolk

In Rabbitfolk society, those who grow horns are seen as especially lucky or blessed. Many of your family members have antler-like horns, as do you, which give you a somewhat otherworldly appearance that either make others fear you or respect you. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus to diplomacy checks towards other rabbitfolk, but a +2 circumstance bonus to intimidation checks for other humanoid creatures.

Charming Rabbitfolk

Perhaps it's something about your appearance, or maybe it's just the mannerisms you picked up from your family, but there is something about you that draws others towards you - for better or for worse. Swap either your Dexterity or Wisdom Ability Boost for a Charisma Boost instead. You also become trained in either Diplomacy or Deception.

In addition, you also kick up a cloud of grit in a direction of your choice.
