The Twelve

The Twelve in their modern form were solidified about eight hundred years ago. Before this, their roles and relationships varied greatly depending on the location or the person telling the story. Their ranks are as follows:   Khasrana: One of the two titans that brought about the other ten. His domain is creation, and is associated with ideals rather than reality.
Naught: Khasrana's partner, and the other titan/father figure. He oversees death and loss, and serves as Khasrana's counterpart, emphasizing reality over ideals.   Children of Khasrana:
Mainyu the Judge: Paragon of morality and order. Partnered with Bennu the Fearsome - one of the opposed pairs, rather than synergistic. An opposed pair are not adversarial, but rather their respective domains are ones that must be balanced against one another.
Glasya the Learned: Paragon of knowledge. Partnered with Kaliya the Vanguard. Glasya provides raw and unfiltered knowledge, which Kaliya then processes and transforms into innovation.
Forgall the Domitor: Paragon of ambition. Partnered with Cosmia the Ascendant.
Kujata the Fireheart: Paragon of passion. Partnered with Kuribu the Silent - the other opposed pair.
Melusine the Vibrant: Paragon of life. Partnered with Irminsul the Resplendent. Like Glasya and Kaliya, Melusine radiates new life, which Irminsul guides into new beings.   Children of Naught:
Bennu the Fearsome
: Paragon of freedom and ferocity.
Kaliya the Vanguard: Paragon of innovation.
Cosmia the Ascendant: Paragon of social order.
Kuribu the Silent: Paragon of peace.
Irminsul the Resplendent: Paragon of evolution.
