The Meteorite
20th of Zaranthyr 998 YK
5 days has passed now. We delivered the meteorite to crazy woman. And in almost an instant she gave us a potion of healing, a ominous looking helmet, some gold and a chain mail of some material i haven't seen before. She called it "Mithral". Pretty sure she meant mithril which is a ore that few people have used in armor production, i better take it and study it, it's pretty light. Maybe i can copy the technique to whoever made this and make mithril armor myself some day. But now is not the time to look back at my profession as a blacksmith. I must look forward! I should consult with Blagg where we are with the goblin bounty that is on the notice board here in Larunor. But first, i need to ask Gatz if he has some of that beefy sausages he's been making lately. I'm staaarving and it's freezing could today. Can't wait to get near a warm hearth and chuck down some meat with a tankard of ale after this quest.
Randall
15th of Zaranthyr 998 YK
We're standing outside the ruins now after a long journey so i got a moment to write this down before i forget the details.
Okay, so we met this man Randall. And his followers. Oh my lord what a show he and Blagg put on to continue his scheme of lying to his followers that he's an all powerful being that can do anything. Blagg got some from one of the followers, Gatz received some other nonsense and i got a silver coin. Next time i meet Randall i think i'm going to have a conversation with him about coming clean to his followers. I can protect him if things go awry because of it. Gatz returned now, gotta end this entry now. I think he also might have soiled himself based on the smell...
Snowballing
10th of Zaranthyr 998 YK
By the gods, we did it! The two lasses we're reunited with their family and we managed to track down and kill the remaning goblins and their goblin leader in said cave. I experienced some weird event with trying to cast some spells from my hands, but apparently i'm not made of sorcerous materials like my uncle and his children. So in the middle of the cave run i picked up my shield and tried my best to protect my allies. And boy did i deliver, this is my call, this is the meaning of my life, to protect others!
And if that wasn't enough, we keep on snowballing. This crazy lady gave a task to recover a meteorite up in the old ruins in Eldritch Grove, that place give me the creeps, and return it to her for a hefty reward. This is just getting better! I spent the gold to get myself a new weapon. Been practicing in secrecy with this longsword and i'm starting to get the hang of it now. Seems like the snowfall has increased these last days, we should stock up on provisions for the road ahead, i believe they said it is a 5 day travel atleast. I should get rid of this old bedroll now that i have a new one... No, that halfling should get the new one, my old bedroll still have some cold nights before it wears out.
Crazy Times
9th of Zaranthyr 998 YK
I made a dagger the other day to test out a new technique. I actually managed to make it more balanced a normal skinning knife. I hope someone will put it to good use. As i am writing this we are on our way to a cave were two lasses apparently have been captured by the greenskins. Gatz, Blagg and Smashfist have taken the lead, they seem more experienced than me. I hope, no, i know this goblin hunt will go better than my first time. I am confident!
Tough Choice
7th of Zaranthyr 998 YK
Ouch, that hurts. Sorry, just tried to get out of bed. It's getting better though.
Oh right, now where was i. Yes! The cave party went bad real fast, the two first goblins was easy, but once we got inside they overpowered us. Luckily my two other allies managed to pull me out of there, i owe them my life for that. I woke up today thinking, would i do it again if i had the option? Absolutely! I've never felt so alive as when i was that close to death. I must begin the work on my own armor as fast as possible...
My Choice
4th of Zaranthyr 998 YK
A couple of the local boys wanted me to join them in exploring a nearby cave. The rumors has it that it's infested with goblins. *Ugh* Haven't seen one in years, those pesky creatures... Maybe i should join them. Beats sweating all the time in this smithy, what has it been 18 years now? 18 years of service to Larunor in production of low grade armor and weapons to support those nobles in their great war, only to see the production come to an halt at the end of it. Now people need repairs on their roofs and tools... I miss the old times.
You know what, i'm gonna do it. I am going to leave this smithy, become something more than... than... than this. But what the hell can i bring to the party, i guess my mace will suffice for now...
The Iron Trail
11th of June 998 YK
Birna, a local smithy has requested help in investigating the sudden drop of iron ore supply to Larunor.
Rumor has it an old iron mine in the Black Caps might be the source of the issue. I gathered my companions, Orla and Kalka-Fé, saddled up Viljar and we departed early the same day we accepted the task at hand.
Later that day during our first supper rest, we encountered two gnolls presumably gnawing on charred human flesh skewered over a firepit. The stench has left its mark our minds, for both bad and good according to Kalka-Fé.
The Temple in The Swamps
4th of June 998 YK
Today me and Narrakas met three new adventurers in Larunor. Orla, Thorgrim and Kaldh. We found a couple of quests up on the notice board in the town center and decided it be best if we travelled together.
Outside Larunor we encounter Randall and his posse again. We saved him and the cult's children from the cult itself and offered salvation that was gratefully received by the cult's members. The woods a tad more singed after the purge but it was all for the greater good.
Further into the forest we found the village that contained the person we needed to talk for one of our quests, the "mayor" as he entitled himself told us the direction of the temple where we were to search for a family heirloom, an amulet. This swamp village looked like a pile of garbage at best, but i guess it has served it purpose at some time in the past.
After some scrambling through the forest we found a worn down drawbridge that led into the temple. During our traverse Orla lost foothold and fell into the moat surrounding the structure. This awoken some swarms of poisonous snakes, i took a couple of hits and experienced a pain most wrenching, but we all survived in the end.
My new friends proved their worth in combat with great valor, these are heroes i can continue my saga with. Or so i thought, inside we found a couple of chambers. In one of them there was an immense amount of treasures, i wasn't sure about the validity of what we saw, but it sure did not bother Thorgrim and Kaldh. They filled their pockets full with loot not even concerning there might be something awry. I tought they looked a little reduced after they were done looting.
In the second chamber we found a pedestal with a chest on it and a giant spider was lurking in the corner of the roof. After a fiery opening a battle occured with the foul beast. In the corridor towards the third chamber we cleared the four rats that blocked our path, the fight was swift and relentless. This corridor led us into a room with a stone throne containing a ghoul, we reigned holy fire upon from afar and ended his existence before he could reach us. And in the last chamber we met the self announced king of swamp temple. A low-life goblin that thought himself king of the Bullywags in this kingdom. After some minor injuries he fled the scene and we got the amulet.
Back in the city the mayor revealed that he'd lost our cart with ores and that he owes some people in Larunor money, we threatened him into a deal that gave us a new carriage and some gold, along with the enchanted amulet.
Kaldh wished to become the new mayor of this rundown swamptown. It was aweful here, never coming back.
Learned a lot though. This adventure was okay.
