Hag
While Hags aren't very common in Aurleen thanks to the presence of Melisande in the Feywild, they still have a non-neglible presence. Due to Melisande's nature there're plenty of dark spots in the Feywild for them to hide as she simply doesn't care enough to bother driving them out and Blightforest is far too big for even the lady of the forest to have total, complete control over every square mile.
The hags meanwhile are smart enough to not draw undue attention to themselves, preying and scheming against humanoids outside of the Blightforest borders and making sure their victims either don't live to tell the tale or never know they were dealing with a hag in the first place. Though rare, some hags do develop a sense of arrogance after becoming powerful and old enough.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
Hags create offspring by luring men with illusions and charms, they go through great lengths to make sure this stays a secret, even refraining from eating or otherwise harming the male when not necessary, leaving them none the wiser. When a child is born (always a girl) they leave it in humanoid settlements, either as orphans in rough places or making sure they end up at families where they will be unloved and receive cruel treatment.
During their early life these daughters are not much different from human girls, they're not ugly or even particularly predisposed towards evil (though thanks to many hags making sure their daughters have a miserable upbringing they often end up cold and cruel) Adding to this, their magical powers may sometimes manifest, especially during emotional distress and can cause misfortune or jealousy to those around them. About the time when they reach puberty, these girls receive "The Call", a hypnotic spiritual voice that beckons them to travel and discover their true origins. Most girls feel it as a lust to wander but its origin is much more sinister: the hag tries to summon her wayward daughters home to form covens.
Those who follow the call are abducted and subjected to an horrific ritual that harnesses their innate magic and twists their physical form eventually resulting in the birth of a new hag. Some who have been subjected to rejection and persecution actually embrace this wicked metamorphosis, while those with stronger social bonds resist it and live out their mortal lives.
Ecology and Habitats
Most Hags in Aurleen live in the Feywild as its ever-changing and chaotic nature gives them ample space to hide and practice their crafts. Though few if any are bold enough to prey upon its denizens. As such, most hags operate within the rest of Blight forest and its outskirts. Though depending on the type of Hag they may frequent other areas as well. Bheur and Annis hags often have lairs in the mountains while Sea Hags can sometimes be found in coastal caves or seaside towns.
Dietary Needs and Habits
When humans transition into Hags they become carnivorous. While they can easily sustain themselves with any type of meat such as from cattle and fish, many tend to enjoy feasting on the flesh of humanoids and develop a taste for it.
