Founders Mid-Summer Festival
The Founders Mid-Summer Festival is a festival that was first held the year that the Esle Plague illness was eliminated.
The people of Kiannon II (AGP and Founders Sect) united in their desire to rejoice that they survived. The Mothership communicated the Council's desire to rejoice in their triumph over this disease. The Mothership, Cathay and every settlement had to contribute specimens and resources in order to come up with a vaccine. They all had to participate in the distribution plan in order to cover every settlement with the medicine to deliver healing and then protection against the disease.
The Mid-Summer Festival is a 3 day festival that reminds all settlers of Kiannon II what they sacrificed and what is possible on this new planet.
The first day is The Day of Sorrow
* On this day, the entire colony (across multiple settlements) remembers the history of the colony. That is the landing, the Settlements and the Plague.
Settlers bring candles and gifts to their ancestors' graves or to the Landing Monument inside the mountain in a procession that starts after dusk- People fast until they bring their gifts to the graves
Then they come home and each family or group (if they have no family - no one eats alone - they eat with guilds or with trade groups)
The second day is The Day of Building
* On the second day, the entire day is a day of building. Everyone participates in building up supplies or rebuilds what is broken down. In settlements, they repair walls and barriers. In Cathay, they repair buildings, parts of the docks and storehouses.
* Even children participate in the repair and rebuilding. They are taught how to make bricks and use tools.
* In Cathay, the Founders Sect recites the history of the Landing and the history.
* The Mothership shares videos over the network to every settlement in Kiannon.
The third day is The Day of Abundance
* On the third day, the entire day is a day of party! There are parties across Kiannon. Baking that was completed a day earlier is now brought out and everyone feasts and dances. In city centers, each settlement arranges for plays, musicians and dancing.
* The partying goes all night.
The final day is the Day of Rest
* The final day is a holiday where everyone recovers from the festivities.
* The day is quiet except for singing of songs* At the end of the day, a bonfire is built in each of the Settlements and the people gather round and sing songs.
* At midnight, the singing ends and everyone heads back to their homes.
