Order of the Fates

The Fates

Children or descendants of Divinity and The Dragon, The Fates are the gods of Kikandrian. Every Fate has the power to manipulate the soul, but their powers differ greatly beyond that. Each Fate has their own 'domain' where their powers originate from, and up until the Second Calamity the Fates were in the multitudes across the world. Pretty much every King or Queen had a Fate in their court, a representative to the higher council of Fates. Divinity stood at the head of this council, and appointed his eldest son (not yet named) as his hand.

The Order of the Fates

The Order of the Fates started when a High King Hanelle Lowell decided to create some kind of organization to the Fates titles and powers. Addressing confusion over where their religious efforts should be put forth, the King established the Order of the Fates, installing his younger brother as the Head Priest of the Order. The Order grew fast, people flocked to this new way of knowing the Fates. And soon the High Priest became overwhelmed, and invited soothsayers and devotees to apply to become priests and priestesses of their own accords. It didn't take long before the staff for the Order was filled out, and King Hanelle commissioned the city of Gaem to be rebuilt as a center of pilgrimage and devotion.     The Order didn't stay small and intimate for long, and soon it branched out. Seeking sponsors across the continent, the Order soon had temples in every major city, and even some small shrines erected in the smaller hamlets and towns. The High Priest however had not grown any younger and a new problem of succession soon took hold. To the Order, blood succession seemed too simple for a job as lawded as the High Priesthood, and so, they chose to elect a new High Priest, therefore allowing even the most unknown of commoners to attempt to earn the High Priest spot. This would trickle down to how every temple elected its leaders from then on.
