Doriathilan Invasion
The Conflict
Prelude
Kiman merchants doing business in the Novarian Empire heard whispers of an impending Doriathilan invasion, caused itself by pressure placed on them by the Novarian Empire, seeking to expand. The merchants brought word back, and the Novarian government soon sent official warning to the Council of Magistry, urging them to prepare for coming conflict. At the time, Kima was not united as an empire, but was instead six separate nations that constantly waged war on one another, and were only held loosely together by the Council of Magistry. The Chema Expanse was the most powerful and significant, so the Council brought the news to their king, Arnald of Anstead. Unfortunately, King Arnald was unwilling to gather an army. In fact, he was so unwilling that he abandoned his throne and fled into the night. This left Chema leaderless and the other five countries largely unaware of the impending danger. Elric of Anstead, the Captain of the Crownsguard, stepped up to the challenge. With the help of Asa of Nimre, the former king's advisor and a powerful mage, he penned a letter addressed to his fellow Kimans. The letter urged Kima to unite as one nation to face down the Doriathilan threat. By pointing out Doriathil's strict magic restrictions and calling back to the reason Kima was settled in the first place––to escape these restrictions––Elric was ultimately successful in his attempt to merge Kima into one empire. Asa brought the letter before the Council of Magistry, convincing them to spread it across the continent and to support the cause with their battlemages and healers. The overwhelming support that poured in, particularly from Ephemere and the Strica Seaboard, was unprecedented. Avadale, the Lumarien Plains, and the Katzan Cape would take more convincing, especially considering that they did not have an overarching government like the other three did. Regardless, training began immediately. When the Doriathilan ships arrived, Kima was ready.
