Luna University
Structure
In many ways, LU is structured like many univerisities, but it has many details that are unique due to its connection to werewolf society, including how Deans are selected.
At the top is the Board of Trustees, made up of the family elders, the pater familias or mater familias, acting as representaives of specific regions of the world. The original founders made up the first Board, and selected their replacements upon retirement. This tradition has continued and remains the method of selecting the Board members today. Members of the Board remain so until they choose to retire.
Every five years the Board chooses a new University Dean to head the university. This Dean then chooses the deans of the various departments within the university. There is also a number of support staff, professors, and others who work within the university.
Culture
Though the students at LU may be prone to having parties and making some mischief, the university does everything it can to help them do so safely and without risking the discovery of werewolves by humans in the area. No assignments are ever given during the full moon, and no exams are held immediately after it in order to give students the best opportunity possible to succeed. Sex education is also considered vital to the university, especially in regards to teaching the dangers of mating during the full moon when too young to truly grasp the long-term ramifications of doing so.
Public Agenda
Luna University strives to give all werewolves a good education that will allow them to be successful even in the human world, teaching not only what is needed for a major but how to navigate the professional world as a werewolf. It offers all werewolves looking for higher education a safe place to do so when the complications of the full moon would otherwise make it difficult to attend a human college or university.
History
Luna University, originally known as Luna College, was founded in order to ensure that werewolf youth could receive higher education that was competitive with human-founded universities, while providing the safety needed by werewolves during the full moon.
While it began mainly as a liberal arts college, other programs have been added in the over two hundred years since its founding. LU now offers majors in all subject areas by partnering with other organizations, such as Grace Bank for business-related internships, and Grace General for medical programs. The university also offers online programs as needed and works with the administration of the kindergarten-through-twelfth-grade online schooling program that all werewolf children are educated with.
