Reyuael (ray-you-el)
Reyuael is a major character in Power of Demons, which is currently only available to subscribers on Ream.
Physical Description
Body Features
The form Reyuael typically uses includes several "tattoos" that he changes frequently, as they are only illusion and not real tattoos. He also typically has piercings, which are real, but changeable with his form. His eyes also glow in varying degrees based on his mood.
Special abilities
As one of the Powers, Reyuael is a demon hunter. His abilities are therefore tied to fighting and vanquishing demons. He is incredibly agile, fast, and strong, regardless of what form he takes to fight in.
Apparel & Accessories
Reyuael typically wears black clothing and gloves, covering nearly his entire form. This is to avoid absorbing organic fluids or fine dusts that can disrupt ecosystems or alert demons to his presence.
Specialized Equipment
Reyuael carries several weapons, mostly swords and other blades, that are filled with angelic essence. This makes them even more effective for injuring and vanquishing demons.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Reyuael was created by God along with eleven other experimental Powers. They were created to focus all their energy on vanquishing demons once it became clear to God that the other angels had other priorities and duties to mortals. Reyuael has therefore spent all of his life, several thousand years, hunting demons.
Reyuael became one of the Fallen because he had discovered that not all demons truly needed to be vanquished. He was among a group of angels not only advocating for God to treat mortals better, but for a better relationship between mortals, angels, demons, and God in general.
Gender Identity
Reyuael has no need for gender but tends to present in a masculine form because it often makes his life easier among mortals.
Sexuality
Reyuael is asexual but he does experience sexual desire. This is not directed toward or triggered by anyone in particular. When he experiences it, he typically finds the safest outlet for that desire. A partner is required, as he and his Power brethren were created without the ability to experience sexual pleasure. God considered it too distracting for the angels already in existence. The only way for Reyuael to satisfy his desire when it presents itself is by pleasing a partner and absorbing some of their sexual energy.
Employment
Reyuael currently works as an independent contractor vanquishing demons for the Mortal Protection Agency. When not doing that, he frequently tracks and vanquishes other demons he comes across.
Failures & Embarrassments
Reyuael's greatest embarrassment is when he was vanquished by a demon he had become lovers with, Ayelzel. She had been using him to help her rid a region of other demons so she could place herself into power as a sex goddess to the people living there. When he discovered her true motives, she vanquished him to Hell, where it took him several months to recover his energy enough to return to Earth.
Morality & Philosophy
Reyuael doesn't believe that all demons need to be vanquished. Some can live peacefully among mortals. This belief contributed to him being caught in the Fall of the angels.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
The motivation to hunt and vanquish demons comes from the God-given instincts he was created with. He has no choice but to hunt down demons. However, he can and does leave some to live their lives on Earth once he is satisfied that they are not going to do harm.
Social
Social Aptitude
When it comes to moving among mortals, blending in does not come naturally to Reyuael. He tries to avoid spending much time with mortals because simple things like breathing, making his eyes appear normal, and changing his voice to sound human, are difficult for him to focus on. Such changes to his form require too much concentration. Among others who know what he is, he is more comfortable.
Speech
Reyuael's voice does not fit the normal range of human speech. Like many angels, it can rumble, chime, or shudder in seemingly unnatural ways when heard by someone used to the speech of mortals.
