The Ghast
Notable Victims:
Transmission & Vectors
The Ghast was transmitted through certain meat and blood.
Causes
The ghast began as a bovine disease that came from the Bessorsi, a now-extinct cousin to the Buffalo, that had straight horns and long, shaggy fur.
Symptoms
Fever, headaches, nausea, diarrhea, blood in stool, and rapid weight loss.
Treatment
There was no true treatment as the Queen and the Arcane were primarily focused on ending the pandemic - which they did after three months.
Some cities in Aroku claimed that drinking a tea made of ginko, tumeric, echinacea every meal for a week - though hard on the body - showed the most promising signs of success.
Prognosis
- Stage one: Fever, headaches, nausea (recoverable, can last for a week before developing further)
- Stage two: Diarrhea, blood in stool (recoverable, can last for two weeks before developing further)
- Stage three: Rapid weight loss, inability to hold down any food (terminal)
Prevention
All the Bessorsi in the Kingdom were killed and a bovine-cure was made. There was no cure for humans who ate infected Bessorsi meat.
