Ilenia Aloro
Ilenia Aloro (a.k.a. Pia (Little))
Ilenia "Pia" Aloro was a legendary High Elf warrior who fought for the rights of the early High Elf settlers in the Kingdom of Sorrano. Her nickname, Pia, means "little" in Elvish. She was so nicknamed for her exceptional short stature for a High Elf. Ilenia's early life consisted of a great deal of solitary time. She was shunned by her peers for her stature, and she spoke little to anyone outside of her immediate family. She spent her days and many of her nights in the woods, where she ultimately befriended and tamed a young brown bear whose mother had died in a battle with another woodland creature. Ilenia named her bear companion Mya, and the two of them became trusted companions. Meanwhile, Ilenia's older brother, Dreali, also short in stature, had quite the opposite approach. He spoke loudly, shouting, in fact, to compensate for his size, and he often fought with others. One such fight, however, proved to be fatal. Dreali, despite his size, was quite the warrior. He had joined a party that was sent from the Town of Lunaris to negotiate with humans over the rights to the lands surrounding Lunaris, but the negotiation turned ugly. Dreali was fatally wounded, but managed to make it back to town before dying, his sister by his side. The death of her brother not only changed Ilenia forever, it changed the kingdom. Ilenia took up her brother's sword, training day and night, gaining strength and learning how best to fight for herself and her people. With her bear, Mya, by her side, Ilenia quickly earned her place as a powerful warrior leader for the High Elves. Her might proved to be decisive in her people's struggle for rights in the kingdom, and though both she and Mya died in the last great battle between elves and humans in the kingdom, her sacrifice was instrumental in the High Elves gaining the rights to settle and travel anywhere in the kingdom that they please. Up until that point, the High Elves were only permitted to settle in the Town of Lunaris, and though most High Elves in the kingdom choose to remain in Lunaris, they are no longer forced to remain there. Ilenia and Mya were laid to rest together in Lunaris, and a remembrance ceremony is held in their honor every year on the anniversary of their death at the shrine where their remains are buried.
