Goldwick Institute of Thamaturgy and Transmutation
"Some say reality is only what we percieve. If a tree falls within the woods, we can't hear nor see it. Does that mean the tree doesn't exists? Just like this, the arts of thaumaturgy and transmutation would bend the fabrics of what we percieve to be reality, into a possible alternative. Water to wind, wind to fire, fire to earth, earth to gold."
Purpose / Function
The institute servers to train rich or talented youth into becoming either Transmuteers or Thaumaturges.
Alterations
In it's distant past, a temple to Spronk, the god of Science was built at the very top floor of the institutes' tower to watch over and guide it's scholars to successfull discoveries. In recent years it's also added a skydock surrounding it for airships to land, in order to hold meetings with people from far away civilizations.
Architecture
The institute is built like a grand tower with a harmonic rectangular base. The left side which stretches a short bit above it's right is crowned dome cupola on it's roof, jeweled in a similar fashion that a kings crown would be decorated. The building itself is a striking goldlike yellow and plum colour, with a perfectly symetrical height and width that store more than a hundered rooms and thousands of guests.
Defenses
The tower part is adorned with a small skydock which allows zeppelins to land on it's second topmost floor. These zeppelines themselves are loaded with transmutor cannons to obliterate any skywards enemy that would seek to assail the institute.
History
The institute is one of Goldwick's most ancient and prized buildings, standing tall in the northwest most region of the mesa on which the city reside. It's always been reknowned as the first school in the world to practice functional and beneficial transmutation which both helped revolutionize the areas of medicine, magic, metalurgy and flight.
Combining both the sciences of nature and technology, with magical theory and alchemy, the success of the institute as reknowned the world over flocked high society to send their aspiring heirs and heiresses to learn of the arts to become masters of understanding the foundations on which the world had been built. Thus the institute rapidly grew to become a cultural center for all of Peregon and a tremendous source of both wealth and prestige for Goldburg and Goldwick city.
Following it's success, the institute soon turned into a national pride, and is a founding pillar of all Goldburg's culture. The very palace of Goldwick was only built years after the institute became regarded as a temple for the God of Science and is now ruled by the Grand Transmaturge who always is the King of Goldwick's right hand in all matters and the one responsible for ensuring the king's heir is educated to be the best ruler-magi when their time to take the throne is nigh.
Tourism
While most social classes and races are forbidden from entering Goldwick city as they are seen as not clean enough, the high nobility of elvenkin are more than welcome to visit, with the exception of the savage woodelves and culturaly inferior darkelves.
From the rise of the popularity in the institute, elvenkin has always had an interest in the more raw scientific parts of thamaturgy and alchemy which mankind seems to excel at, hence they often make visits to discuss magics and politics regarding the chanse of educating some of their own children at the institute. Though so far, it's secrets have only been shared with fellow human factions who they see as being on an equal footing in intellectual blood.
