Nettles Ferry
Local engineer Davik Nettles built a ferry crossing on the Shrike River and charged a toll to those who sought to cross. That was until the Stag Lord and his henchmen slew the ferryman so that they could control the passage and collect the tolls for themselves. With his dying breath he cursed the Stag Lord and swore he would return for his blood. And surely, the following night Davik Nettles rose from the river, a revenant, hellbent on claiming the body and blood of the Stag Lord. He slew the better part of the Stag Lord's crew that night and they fled to their stronghold, while Davik sank back into the riverbed.
When the PCs slew the Stag Lord they learned of this story from Dovan of Nisroch, who witnessed the revenant killing their companions. Dovan suggested that they bring the body of the Stag Lord to the ferry crossing to appease the undead and put him to rest. And so they did. Davik took the Stag Lord's corpse, opened his veins so that his blood flowed into the Shrike River, and the two bodies sank into the riverbed.
As they sank beneath the water, a +1 Ranseur washed up on the shore. A gift for putting a wronged man's body to rest.
