Emotion // Dictate
Sharing is caring
The Showrunner was visibly displeased by the results of the negotiations with the Slavers to stop certain practices from being performed. These uptight idiots were not ready to lower their cruelty a bit, which made his boss angry. Merex stood in the shadow on the other side of the room, just outside of his boss' reach. When he gave him the signal, he sighed to himself and opened up. His back began to glow in a soft white tone, and he began to think and express devout and slightly fearful thoughts, sharing them with the uncooperative Slavers. As they experienced the forced upon emotions the Showrunner took the opportunity and reiterated the contract with a thundering voice. Scared and devout the Slavers all signed it, only to realize they got tricked. But when they looked behind themselves, Merex was already gone, having successfully done his deed.
Emotions are a powerful power to control, hence why becoming a Taken endangers the victim so gravely, as they have their emotional outbursts enhanced to unhealthy amounts. Emotion magic on the other hand is unable to do such heinous things and is therefore not too dangerous to have around, although gravely annoying in certain aspects.
Share // Outburst
Emotions can be spread stealthily or with a booming effect, which will definitely unveil the causing sorcerer. Subtlety is key for a Participer if they desire not to be held accountable for events happening within their reach. To truly disguise their sharing of emotions they however should wear something to cover up their brain- and backbone-section, as both will start to glow in colors akin to the shared emotion. Weak sharing is more akin to spreading suggestive emotions the influenced people can experience if they act on it. If for example, the targeted emotion is happiness can a chuckle amidst a conversation grow into an outright expression of euphoria. As the ability is range- and presence-based and does not utilize any senses as carriers can virtually every being with a soul be influenced by it, all the way to Automatons, A.I.s and even the godly Eternals.
If one decides to strip down on the subtlety and embrace the desired emotion, be it in a fake or real outburst the effect can be immense. Losing their neutral and contained expressions and living out the chosen part of the spectrum causes the entire room to feel the very same whether they want to or not. The only surefire counter to this explosion of feelings is if the target expresses the most intense variant of the emotion countering the desired.
One can not flip the switch from furiously angry to gleeful and happy. As the surroundings of the Participer get their fair share of the emotion will they either embrace it or try to reject it resulting in a brief stun the mage can use to their advantage. Furthermore, if the influenced would stay within the radius of the mage the emotion will multiply and overtake them, causing effects on them even if they leave the presence they got affected from.
The party was fun, but it still needed a bit more. As the lizard looked around her galpals and to the owner of the Shade, Pale, she decided that she can finally be herself, celebrating the recent success of their inn, having been at last advertised by the Moon District as a must-see attraction. Aurine exhaled and then inhaled deeply, stepping on the dancefloor. The girls looked at her with shining eyes, inviting her to let loose. A smirk widened on her face and her frills began to glow in a friendly bluish pink. She stretched her limbs, forcing any remainder of her neutral expression and posture away from her and embraced it. Emitting waves of pure joy she grabbed the outstretched hand of Pale and began to enjoy herself, free of bounds, dancing with him as she observed her friends.
They all readily accepted her emotions and shouts of happiness and joy got set free. The party had just begun, and she was now part of it.

Madness // Overwhelm
A technique which sounds as hard to perform as it is hard to imagine to experience it.
As masters of the nudges of emotional states can seasoned Participer combine these triggers into an amalgam of multiple emotions, causing a dilemma. The aura of such a mutant of many mutations is however beautiful as the mage will start to glow in the colors of the rainbow sharing many emotions at the same time, causing a state some call madness.
The user is able to experience the madness, but not take part in it, shielding themselves from the results. But all those in the sorcerer's effective radius will find themselves opposed by an array of conflicting emotions causing rage, envy, euphoria, depression and much more, with none, however, being fully graspable.
Madness is the primary offensive weapon of the Participer who desires to cause mayhem. And a beloved opening move by adventuring teams utilizing their Participer not only as a moral boost but also as an opportunity provider.

Physical Alterations
Participers receive no physical mutations at all from their symbiosis with their respective arcane animal. They appear to be the same before and after the joining. Telepathists however encounter their actual mutations quite easily, being utterly unable to break through the mental defenses by force. The symbiosis bolsters the mental capabilities of the user to experience and withstand strong emotions, no matter if them being true or fake. Their ability to withstand self inflicted grief, hoplessness and misery is legendary and if they so desire can they bring forth paralyzing depressions to those opposing them. This resistance however comes with a noticable downside, as the Participer's true emotions have to pass their own barrier as well. A happy mage appears apathic to their surroundings, they have to experience strong emotions to show genuine reactions.
"It is sometimes difficult to show my emotions. I prefer talking with people I know, using my hands, my body to express my emotions without having to inflict them on my conversation partner. But I like it. My friends make a game out of it who gets to draw out the first blush, the igniting chuckle. And inbefore long laughs the whole crowd."Aurine, barmaid of the Shade
Another great article accompanied by some sweet arts and a writing snippet. Your pages are always such treats. I like the varied uses of this spell and the physical manifestations on the Participator. I'm curious if the colors are universal - like, could one in the know look and say that is the emotion they're attempting to project and thus try to counter - or do the colors manifest depending on the Participator? Some percieve happy as, say, yellow while others might associate such bright color with hysteria. Emotions are funny like that, eh? Using them as a moral boost in a party though? That actually gave me a bit of a chuckle cause I would totally love to have one of them on my side but daaamn the chaos that would cause.
The colors are indeed universal, which is, as you correctly noticed, a severe weakness. Hence why Participer who operate in secret tend to wear a hood and cape to be extra cautious. Knowing the fake emotion to be used on you weakens the effect and allows you to fight against it with directed thoughts.
That's super neat. I like that there's such a universal drawback to something that could be so wicked and powerful.
