Gravette

"If you are happen to notice abnormalities around you, like pebbles hovering in mid air or a weaker gravity, tell your surroundings as quick as possible, that you are not an animal but a sapient being.
The source of these anomalities might not have us on their menu, but when you happen to tap into a gravette's gravity trap, then only strong arms and a firm grip to the solid ground can save you from inevitably getting eaten alive by this strange creature.
It is advised to use the grappling hook that is provided with our survival equipment."

Basic Information

Anatomy

"As if some higher being has simply taken a gelatinous soft shell, slapped some chitin and Insect eyes on it and welded long catch tentacles with a gaping maw on it...and then forgot to set this creature's life habitat to the ocean."
  • 8 long, ribbon-like, tentacles with a larger tip hosting paralyzing suction cups
  • Gelatinous yet partly solid torso due to chitinous areas
  • A ginormous maw at the top end of their tentacles with sharp garbage chute like teeth
  • Plated facial region with a slightly pointed tip. Has one big and three small insect eyes on each side.
  • Species hovers by magic means manipulating the gravity around itself

Genetics and Reproduction

"We are researching the arcane species of Prius alredy quite a few centuries, The population count of the Braccium gravitatisseems has neither grown nor dimished in the last 100 years.
It seems like there is only a finite amount of them able to live on Prius at the same time.
There are no records of any mating attempts by any representative of this species and no records of them giving birth.
It is just like as if they are just there; if one dies or connects itself to one of us another one just...appears."
Chief researcher of the magic arcanum, Mauze Tung

Dietary Needs and Habits

Gravetti are omnivores, who are hunting via gravitational traps.
To incapacitate their prey they manipulate locally the gravity pulling the unsuspecting moving object in question towards their mouth at the top end of their tentacles. Having no grip to the world anymore, their prey is hovering helplessly in midair just to be paralyzed by the Gravette's tentacles and then lead towards their end while still at full mental consciousness.
People are not on their diet, only smaller animals, but you will still get eaten if you fail to communicate your sapience before getting paralyzed.

Additional Information

Domestication

Every domestication attempt on a larger scale has failed due to their beings magical structure. They can, however, be tamed and used as means of transport, as their back is due to the Gravette's gravity magic like a solid, balanced foundation to build small structures on.
Beduins of Duvara are seen to set up their tents and store their resources on the back of such majestic beasts to travel through the desert without having to come all too much in contact with the unforgiving surface of the scorching sands.

Average Intelligence

As with all the arcane beasts of Prius, the Gravette possesses some intellect. This can however only be noticed if you happen to have access to arcane senses.

Their means of sapience are highly restricted until engaging in a symbiotic relationship with a valid humanoid.
If they have however transferred their spirit into one and can unfold themselves via their host's superior brain they present themselves as wise, yet mischievous minds.
