Geography

Emia Sound is a large bay, branching off of the Ilon Sea and cutting into the Canti-Argo Peninsula. The sound itself has a few bays of its own, the biggest of which is the Bay of Ceanon, in which the city of Ceanon is located. Due to it's inland position the weather in Emia Sound is relatively calm and consistent.

Importance

Due to the already mentioned weather conditions, Emia Sound was the birthplace of many cities, towns and even whole civilizations or cultures. It is said that the Canti people originated on the peaceful shores of the sound before spreading to the rest of their peninsula.
Today three capital cities are located around Emia Sound: Ceanon (Melan), Lando (Pania), and Menam (Kimon). The Emia Sound is essential for trade between these countries. Of course fishers populate the coastal villages and countryside to exploit the natural populations of fish, crustaceans and shellfish living in the sound.

Biology

The weather and location of the Emia Sound lead to an average water temperature that is a bit warmer than that of the Ilon Sea. This makes the sound a safe haven for smaller types of fish and other marine life. Occasionally one may even see a whale that got lost or just chose the Emia Sound to give birth to her calf. A few types of sharks also inhabit the Emian waters, but they mostly stick to the deeper parts and shark attacks are very rare on the sound.
