Din Ori
Near the base of Mount Denovi, a civilization lurks hidden from most outside of the Ebissian Reaches. The Carcitan people hide away, living within the underwater volcanic tunnels carved out by magma flows and other creatures of the deep. These Carcitan - calling themselves the Din Ori - are crab-like beastkin. They grow to roughly 8 feet tall, bearing a multitude of qualities from their carcinized ancestry, such as some being more drider or centaur-like in appearance. The exoskeleton of their bodies tend towards a glossy red and black glass-like texture from the settling igneous debris from the volcano.
Much of their resources come from Mount Denovi, as it provides obsidian and other strong stone for building materials, wildlife that thrives within the magma tunnels for food, and the volcano itself as a source of energy for their cavern fortresses.
In magnificent fashion, the Din Ori have constructed elegant wall carvings and palace-like structures in which they reside from the obsidian glass, making these structures appear to be glass castles. In similar regard, the weapons and armor of their warriors are crafted alike, adding a sense of beauty to their armies. This visually flashy design is also used as a tactic for distracting enemies who inevitably become enamored with the glimmering objects.
Unique to the geography of their home are a deep red, glimmering crystal they call Caricite. The crystals grow naturally around the volcano’s nearby valley, and exude a supernatural heat and glow. Din Ori sorcerers have been able to use this crystal to enhance the weaponry of the warrior caste, as well as use it for a multitude of other quality of life purposes throughout their civilization. Its malleable properties and high value have caused the Din Ori to use it often in trade among the various palaces for other goods.
The Din Ori call their collection of caverns and palaces, Kal Vanaszj. The civilization holds no formal governing structure, but rather a loose set of negotiated agreements on the borders of territory between the palaces. Each palace itself is simply controlled by the eldest of the Din Ori within.
As for interactions with outside beings, few actually ever venture to Mount Denovi, and more likely a lone Din Ori might be seen in Indrath’s Cove, but rarely elsewhere. They are an insular creature, though not to the extent of xenophobia.
