Sylph
Sylphs are an ancient race of Faeriekin, which had been missing from Arawyn for many years. Long ago, many were tricked into servitude to the Dark Faeries. While there were groups who were able to hide or find other respite away from the Dark Faeries, many were forced into servitude via a powerful magical pact. This pact would often cause them to do horrible things for the captors.
More recently the magical pact was broken and those who were still in servitude were freed. In order to free their brethren and so they could all exist again on the Prime Material, the Sylphs sacrificed their immortality to accomplish the task.
Many of the Sylphs who endured such suffering became secluded, hiding in and among the places that the Sylphs that were never taken hid not so long ago. However, there are swaths of Sylphs dedicated to helping their friends and family venture out into more civilized areas in hopes to remind each other how graceful and caring they are. This has varying success amongst those whose personality had been twisted by the pain they endured into something more detached and cold.
Their physical forms are lithe and ethereal in nature, not used to the harsh environments of the physical world. Many see them with unearthly grace and beauty, to an almost alien quality. As a result of their ties to magic and lack of physical strength, Sylphs usually excel at the mystical professions, while finding it difficult or impossible to pursue the more war-like ones. A Sylph's personality contains both the arrogance of ages and the wonder of a new world that is full of surprises.
